Helen Sue Engle

Helen was born on October 26, 1945 in Lafayette Indiana. She was the fourth of six children of John and Vernice (Robbins) Slavens. Helen loved growing up with her large family and loved talking about life on the farm! Her family moved to Tucson, Arizona when she was 5, but she always had good memories of the farm in Indiana. She graduated from Catalina High School in Tucson, Arizona in June 1963 and went on to college at Central Pilgrim College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Helen was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She adored her family and was happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones. She hosted multiple family get-togethers and was always willing to lend a hand in preparing meals, especially Sunday dinners! And as always, she made sure we had a good dessert, she really loved her sweets!

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vernice Slavens, sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Dave Shurr, and brother Allen Slavens.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Bob) Engle, Daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Clements, Son-in-law Scott Clements, Grandchildren, Spencer, Austin, Trevor, Connor, Tyler, Annie, and Nathan, brother Harold Slavens (Sharyn), sisters Wanda Ruth (Jerry), Marietta Slavens, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Helen will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 South Dobson Road, Mesa, Arizona 85202, followed by a reception from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
