I consider myself an old friend of Jim's back in New York. He was actually friends with my older sister Toni Stewart and he took an interest in my frog catching ability. He would take the time to go with me looking for frogs! Long story short, my father was in the air force and we ended up moving to Washington state. I reconnected with Jim in the mid-70's and I have a small packet of poems/story he wrote. I would love to send it to Jim's family if they would like to have it! Many of us became reacquainted with our cousin Jim when he settled in PA and worked for many years in a family business. He was a talented artist and artisan capable of just about anything he put his mind to.
I'm saddened to learn of his end-of-life struggles. My condolences to Pat, Kathy, Susie and Carol.

I'm so heartbroken that my beloved brother had to leave us so young and suffer such an insidious disease.  He was such a sweet loving gentle man.  I will forever cherish him.  Peace.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Jim. I will always think of him as Jimmy Beck, the older brother of my friend Susie up the street, working on one project or another. Peace and love go out to all of Jim's family.

Almost impossible to find the perfect words to describe my brother.

He was a very gentle and kind soul, much like my Dad. A lot of us remember him primarily as a painter but was more than just that.
He was a father that adored his son and never missed an opportunity to share cute stories about the two of them. His son was his world.

Jim was so fun to be around when I was a kid. He would do and say funny things that made me laugh. Then when I had kids, I saw him do the same thing with them. He really had a great sense of humor.

I also remember a time in his adult life, when he lived in Pennsylvania, and he would volunteer weekly at an assisted living facility. He would share sweet stories about the elderly. I could hear in his voice that he got great joy from that experience. I really admired him for his service work.

I'm sure I will think of more things to share about him as the days go on. I hope you will too.

We will always remember Jim, especially sitting around a campfire, feeding the raccoons!  He literally had them eating out of his hand.  We really enjoyed the years that he lived right up the street, and we saw him often.  Carol, Pat, Sue, Kathy, you have our deepest sympathy.
