Beloved husband of Kathleen Carano; devoted father of Michelle Ann Walker, and Anthony Joseph Carano, (Kathleen); grandfather of Kyle James Walker, (Maddie), McKenzie Clair Walker-Bush, (Benjamin), Madelyn Rose and Grace Elizabeth Carano, Lilley Grace and Abigail Hope Hamel, and great grandfather of Tatum Elise, Maddox Killian, Asher Flynn, Griffin Jack, Rosalee Quinn and Boston James.
In his own words, “after a wonderful life, I am now about to enter into a new journey, hopefully to join my wonderful family and friends that have gone before me. My life was exceptionally good to me and it carried an enormous amount of good fortune and blessing knowing that God, and my ST. Jude and St. Valencia were close enough to hold my hand and guide me when needed”.
Jim was born on October 27, 1942, in Tahlequah, OK. He married Kathy on June 4, 1966, shortly after graduating from Okla. State Univ. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the U.S. Army which included service in Vietnam. He was highly decorated, but his most cherished recognition was that of rising from Private to Colonel which led to his induction into the U.S. Army Infantry School Hall of Fame in 1991.
Jim will always be remembered for his passion for his family and his close personal friendships, and for his love of golf, hunting, fishing, camping, and the beautiful Arizona outdoors.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Viewing will start at 1pm with a service and celebration of his life to follow at 2pm. His internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery for his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, Jim kindly requested that donations be made to “Make A Wish” Foundation, or the Animal Shelter.
