It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of James G. Marzano at the age of 85 in Mesa, Arizona. James, known to his friends and family as Jim, previously of Chicago and Worth, Illinois passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Jeannine Riccelli Marzano who passed away in late 2020.
Jim was born in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago to the late James P. Marzano and Frances (Fabiano) Marzano.
When he was drafted into the United States Army in 1956 and after a whirlwind wedding, the newlyweds set sail overseas to live in Germany for his 2 years of service. They loved to tell stories of their adventures living in Germany and traveling throughout Europe!
Jim had many friends from childhood that he kept in touch with throughout his life, and was on various sports teams with the same group of “guys from the neighborhood” including hockey, softball and even played basketball well into his 70’s. He was an avid White Sox fan, having grown up just blocks from Comiskey Park and was so thrilled to watch his beloved team win the World Series in 2005.
Jim is survived by his loving children Jayme (Daniel) Bachrodt, James P. (Marie) Marzano, of Georgia and Arizona and a daughter in Illinois, Jaclynn (Mark) Zullo, Papa to his three adoring grandsons, Geoffrey (Tyler) Bachrodt, Joseph (Morgan) Bachrodt, Brendan (Tiana) Bachrodt and a granddaughter and grandson, Michael and Stephanie. Great Grandpa to Declan James, Logan Grace, Ryan Joseph, and Bryce Autumn. In addition, he is survived by his devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph & Michelle Riccelli and one sister, Janice Sliva.
A Celebration of Life is planned for late Autumn of 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks for donations to the Wounded Warrior Project https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
