

Jerome “Jerry” Muth, 90, of Mesa, AZ, left this earth to be with Our Dear Lord on July 6, 2013. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 20, 1922, the oldest of three children. He married the love of his life, Betty Reilly, on February 16, 1946 and they were blessed with six children: Jim (Linda) Muth, Judy (Joe) Webber, Dan (Marie) Muth, Chris Muth, Laura (Adam) Flores and Tom Muth. Jerry was also blessed with fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Betty Arnold.
Jerry was a Petty Officer in the United States Navy, where he proudly served in World War II. He was also a third-order Franciscan and was very active in his church community. Jerry began working for the United States Department of Agriculture in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1954, he moved his family to West Des Moines, Iowa, and in 1967, took a job transfer and moved his family to Arizona, retiring after 35 years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, July 11th, from 6:00-8:00 with Rosary at 7:00 at Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Dr. in Mesa. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning, July 12th, at 11:00 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2654 E. Williams Field Rd., Gilbert, and burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 E. Baseline Rd. in Mesa. In lieu of flowers, Jerry would prefer donations be made to The Passionists Holy Cross Province, 1420 Renaissance Dr., Ste. 312, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
