

Jerry Gulbranson was born December 8th, 1934 in Mayville, North Dakota and graduated from the local high school in 1952. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 where he served two years of active duty and a subsequent six years in the Army Reserve. While in the Army Reserve, Jerry received an undergraduate degree in education from Mayville State College and later graduated with a master's degree from the University of North Dakota. Jerry's career in education spanned more than 30 years and included teaching assignments in Fordville, North Dakota and Mesa, Arizona with the majority of his career at Carson Junior High School and Powell Junior High School respectively. Upon retirement, Jerry enjoyed traveling with his wife Judy, spending time with grandchildren and was also an avid golfer. Jerry's kind and gentle nature, clever wit and commitment to family and friends will be greatly missed. Jerry passed away October 14th, 2011 and is survived by his wife Judy, two sons Scott (Amy) and Kevin (Theresa) and five grandchildren Sarah, Benjamin, Abigail, Isabella and Tilly. Jerry was the second youngest of nine children and is survived by Gertrude Garrets, Raymond Gulbranson, Dorothy McGowan and Darryl Gulbranson. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the St. Mary's Food Bank. A visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday October 19th at Melcher Chapel of the Roses in Mesa, Arizona with a funeral mass held at 10am on Friday, October 21st at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona.
