Great granddaughters Hailey, Chloe and Mackenzie Block. Great grandsons Zev and Ari Deuble and great granddaughter Yael Deuble. Great grandsons Scott and Jeromee (Danielle) Grimes and great granddaughters Teariny and Lexis Grimes. Great great granddaughters Stormy and Sunny Grimes.
Preceded in death by son Scott Grimes, parents Earl and Anna Grimes, grandson Joshua Grimes, brother Pete Grimes, and beloved wife Marcella Grimes.
He was a U. S. Marine and was able to have Marcella with him during his service to our country. He retired from Shell Oil Wood River Refinery after 35 years, having gained many lifelong friends from his work there. He loved learning new things, was very skilled at figuring out just about anything, was open to any project, and as a result taught his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren life skills and a legacy of love and family.
He loved woodworking, and in his later years created custom birdhouses. Reading Westerns and history of the West was also a part of his life. Traveling, visiting, camping, boating, and especially fishing, were his favorite things to do with family and friends between Illinois, Kentucky, Colorado, and Arizona. Most importantly, time with Marcella. His humor, caring and love were felt and remembered by everyone he met. We will miss his “Jim Grimes stories”, twinkling eyes and crooked smile, he is missed and forever in our hearts.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.LakeshoreMort.com for the Grimes family.
