Joan Marilyn Draheim, known for her gentle heart, quiet strength, and loving spirit, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at her home in Mesa, Arizona. She was 93 years old.
Joan was born on August 2, 1932, in Illinois to Leonard and Leone Davis. She grew up in Compton, Illinois alongside her brother, Robert.
Throughout her life, Joan was devoted to her family. She first married Bruce Daw, moved to Markesan, Wisconsin and had four children. She was divorced and re-married Daniel Draheim, with whom she shared companionship, laughter, and a peaceful life eventually relocating to Mesa, Arizona.
Joan faced life’s joys and challenges with grace and resilience. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends in bridge club. Joan also was an avid reader and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Leone Davis; her brother, Robert Davis; her daughter, Kathy Jo Daw; and her son, Bruce Kevin Daw.
She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Draheim; her daughter, Debra; her son, Kenneth; two stepsons; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous pride and joy.
Those who knew Joan will remember her for the warmth she brought into every room. She loved playing cards — not just for the game, but for the laughter and conversation that came with it. She also found comfort and joy in reading, often losing herself in a good book.
Joan’s life was rich in simple, meaningful moments — shared stories, thoughtful gestures, and time spent with the people she loved. Her kindness, humor, and loving presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Her family will honor her life privately, remembering her in the ways she would have wanted — with love, laughter, and togetherness.
