John Alden Cox

John Alden Cox (Johnny) was born March 1, 1951, in Globe, AZ, to Charley Bevis Cox and May LeVern Mowery Cox. He went to his rest December 2, 2015, in a hospice unit in Mesa, AZ, surrounded by family. He was 64. He had been battling cancer for 10 months.

John lived in Superior, AZ, since 1975. February 26, 1978, he married Barbara Fraze. They had one son, Preston.

John was a very active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Globe, AZ, serving as First Elder for the past several years. He loved to spend time with his family. He loved to fish, and he loved taking the grandkids fishing. He liked spending time at his vacation place in Lakeside, AZ. John was a vet and spent 4 years in the Air Force.

John went to work for the Superior Unified School District in December, 1978. He worked as a custodian, maintenance man, and bus driver. He worked 31.5 years full-time and the last 4.5 years part-time.

John is survived by his wife Barbara; son Preston (Mironda); “daughter” Patsy (Larry); brothers Joe (Carmen), Gene, George (Jackie); sister Elva Antolick (Paul); grandkids Larissa, Jessica, Janae, Andrew, Tristan, Faye, Tracy, and Paris; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be remembered by the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eyes. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 11, 4:00 p.m., at the Superior Senior/Junior High School multipurpose room, 100 W. Mary Dr., Superior, AZ.

Another memorial service will be held Saturday, December 12, 3:00 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2407 E. Ash St., Globe, AZ.
