June Gladys Dale Peele of Ahwatukee, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13th, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born on August 20,1936, in Los Angeles, California, to Geneva and Carl Dale, June grew up in Mar Vista and graduated from Venice High School in 1955. On Valentine’s Day in 1959, she married Robert Peele, with whom she shared many years of marriage while raising their four children.
June devoted her life to her family and community. As a homemaker, she lovingly raised her children and was actively involved in their lives, volunteering with Cub Scouts and the PTA at Grandview Elementary. Later, her generous spirit extended beyond her home as she gave her time to local Senior Centers and faithfully served her church as a greeter and Communion server. For many years, she also coordinated her church’s Singles lunch group, forming lasting friendships and creating meaningful fellowship opportunities for others.
Creative and talented, June found joy in many crafts, including resin décor, macramé, sewing, and designing handmade cards. She loved reading and shopping, and throughout her life she embraced new experiences. Though shy in her youth, she grew increasingly outgoing and social with age. In retirement, she treasured traveling with her church friends, with a special highlight being a memorable trip to Europe with the church choir.
Before starting her family, June worked as a bookkeeper at a bank. In 1974, she returned to the workforce as a secretary for Continental Baking Company, known for Wonder Bread and Hostess Cakes. She dedicated 30 years to the company before retiring in 2004.
June is survived by her four children: Gary (Rebecca Freeman), Dana Cariker, Donna (Charlie Pickard), and Glenn (Luanna Ellsworth). She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Renai Clark (Josh), Ryan Cariker (Cassie), Mackenzie Shinbara (James Rivera), Lani Gomez Pickard (Jorge), and John Pickard (Alania Trostle); and five great-grandchildren: Annalise, Revel, Rose, Noa, and Enzo. She is additionally survived by her brother, Steven Dale (Joyce).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Geneva Dale, and her nephew, Christian Dale.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Her warmth and kindness enriched the lives of all who knew her.
