

Larry Elton Owens, 67, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away December 31, 2014. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado on November 18, 1947. Larry was proud of his time served in the military, dedicating six years to the Navy and 16 years to the Coast Guard. Following his military career he worked within the Department of Corrections in the state of Colorado.
He married his loving wife Wilma June Owens on August 22, 1993, who already misses him dearly. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and had a passion for cars and taking his family on surprise road trips throughout the country.
He leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Wilma Owens; his children Denny Owens, Keri Owens, James Owens, Sara Owens, Jeremy Hanlon, Christopher Johnson; his grandchildren Cassidy Springate, Haily Barnes, Dante Owens, Kayle Owens, Terrell Owens, Mason Martinez, Aidan Martinez, Jacob Owens, as well as Amber and Alexander Hanlon he raised as his own; and his brother Marty Hendersen to cherish his memory. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Erma Owens, and his brother Jim Owens.
A rosary will be held at Melcher Mission Chapel at 5:00pm on Monday, January 5th at 6625 East Main Street. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, January 6th at 10:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 1244 South Power Road, with interment to follow at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 23029 North Cave Creek Road.
