Lawrence was born on May 17, 1948, in Morenci, Arizona, to Aurelia Rivera and Luperto Saiz Sr. He was one of fourteen children and grew up in Clifton, Arizona, surrounded by a large and close knit family that shaped the man he would become.
His life was shaped by the strong bonds of his siblings and extended family: brothers John Ruiz, Ramon “Moose”, Luperto “Dada”, Leroy, Henry “Butch”, James; sisters Polly, Margret, Lena, Aremeta, Carmen, Anna, Virginia and half siblings Florentino, Frances, Isabel, and Alice. Family was always at the heart of Lawrence’s life.
In June of 1969, Lawrence was drafted into the United States Marine Corps, where he bravely served his country. His time in the Marines was a source of pride and reflected his courage, discipline, and sense of duty.
After returning home from military service, Lawrence married the love of his life, Lydia Huizar, on January 29, 1971. Together, they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family. They were blessed with three sons: David, Anthony “Tony”, and Lawrence II, affectionately known as “Munchie.” Lawrence was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in his family.
Throughout his life, Lawrence faced much adversity, including being a cancer survivor for more than 45 years, living with Parkinson’s disease and the loss of his beloved wife, yet he met every challenge with resilience and consistently turned hardship into strength and success.
Lawrence enjoyed hunting, following football—especially the Raiders—fast cars, and traveling with his wife Lydia, creating many cherished memories together. Lawrence Saiz will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished.

As well as many beloved cousins, nephews, and nieces.
