She was born in Peru, Indiana, on February 2, 1924 (Ground Hog Day), to Ollie P. and Fern Griswold Black, third of nine children. She graduated Valedictorian from Peru High School in 1942. She and her sister Rosetta volunteered at USO dances, where she met her future husband, Murrell A Edwards, then a Navy petty officer. They married on June 5, 1943. Murrell died November 13, 1997, after more than 50 years building a happy family together.
Marge modeled fashion clothes before becoming an accountant and bookkeeper, later promoted to insurance agent and underwriter for Kessler & Westcott. She was an avid reader of newspapers - front to back - staying on top of the news but never skipping the crosswords! She loved working in her garden, caring for her plants, particularly the roses. She was a talented painter who loved dancing, enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for family gatherings, but mostly her pleasure was keeping in touch with her family as it grew larger.
She is survived by her three sons, R. Michael and his wife, Shirley Meza Edwards of Mesa, Arizona; William A. and his wife, Jacqueline Steller Edwards of Bedford, Massachusetts; and James A. Edwards of Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Patty McIntosh of Grand Rapids Michigan; Jerry Black of Cantonment, Florida; and Nancy Norris of Twelve Mile, Indiana. Also, by her grandchildren Constance Edwards and her husband Chip Houck of Boulder, Colorado; Patience and her husband Wes Ferry of San Tan Valley, Arizona; David Edwards and his wife Shanna of Miami Beach, Florida; Daniella Pack and her husband David Smith of Ellabell, Georgia and Haley Edwards of Mesa, Arizona. And her great-grandchildren, Darian, Dracen, Rylee, Ethan, Ryker, Bradley, and Logan.
She is predeceased by her brothers Carl (Bud) Black of Bennett Switch, Indiana; John (Jack) Black of Lompoc, California; her sisters Mary Hoagland of Peru, Indiana; Ruth Grady of Peru, Indiana; and Rosetta Burns of Fort Wayne, Indiana. And by her beloved great-granddaughter Brooke of Ellabell, Georgia.
