Nancy was active with the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Michigan and continued her volunteer work with them after moving to Arizona. She was also secretary of the Payson Chamber of Commerce for several years.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, James L Smith, Jr. and her son, Michael Lanning.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Wright and Deborah Hopper Haines; step-children, Linda Smith, Lorna Rodriguez , and Logan Smith: twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 20, 2015 at 11:00 am at Melcher Mission Chapel, 6625 E Main St, Mesa AZ 85205.
