Perry Wayne Playford, 88, passed away on November 7, 2012 at Copper Cottage Hospice in Mesa, Arizona. He was born in Jackson, Michigan to Roland and Winifred Playford of Hillsdale, Michigan. He married Elsie Ferguson in Jackson in 1946. They moved to Mesa, AZ in 1979 where they owned a women's retail store, Carol's of AZ for 17 years. He was a member of the Velda Rose United Methodist Church Men's club. Wayne was a decorated Military Veteran who served in WWII. He is survived by his children Stephen (Mary Ann), Linda (Gary) Potter, Jeffrey (Mollie); brothers Donald and Michael Playford; sister Rosemary; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers Carl, Rex, Vance, Jerry, Ronald and grandson Mark. A Memorial Ceremony will be held at Velda Rose United Methodist Church, 5540 E. Main St., Mesa, AZ at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 14, 2012. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Sunrise Points of Light Foundation (a Hospice organization), 105 N. Pasadena St., Gilbert, AZ 85233. Arrangements have been entrusted to Melcher Mortuary Mission Chapel.
