Belma and I were both shocked and  terribly saddend to hear the news of Phyllis. We were both brought to tears. You both were such a big part of our lives in Arizona. Our prayers are with you Terry.

Phyllis was an awesome nurse, but will be most remembered for being a tremendous woman who made everyone feel so comfortable and welcome.  She laughed often, kept a positive attitude, and enthusiastically embraced every challenge that came her way.  She will be greatly missed.

I was lucky enough to work with Phyllis on 5 south what an amazing woman.Phyllis was a very special person someone who was meant to be a nurse. I loved watching her work with her patients she was one of a kind.Having lunch with her and listening to all her stories about her family and adventures was always so much fun.Phyllis made 5 south a better place and it will never be the same without her.We all love you Phyllis! Terry your family is in my prayers.

First I want to express my deapest sympathy to you Uncle Terri for your loss of your love and partener in life.  I can't even imagen the loss you are feeling. She was my Aunt, and one of the most AMAZING people I have ever been blessed to know.  She tought me many things in my life, how to swim, how to play chess, how fun life can be if you live it to it's fullest.  And that is exactly what she did.  I am still trying to except the fact that she is gone and with God now, she will be missed everyday. Rest in peace Aunt Sissy, and we will see you again, and have that glass of wine and girl talk I will miss forever...Love you, Christine

It has been my pleasure to know Terry and Phyllis for over twenty years.  Every time I saw them together I saw the love, joy and friendship that they shared together. She may be gone now but I know that the love she had for Terry, her children and grandchildren is still here.  May her love serve to comfort and strengthen you during this time.  I know in my heart you will be together again for all eternity.

I find it impossible to express my sorrow and shock about Phyllis. She was the epitome of an outstanding nurse and a lady who truly cared for her health/activity level. She always had a genuine caringness about her patients.  She loved sharing stories of her family and truly was a HAPPY person who loved life. I just learned of her passing today at work and I was shocked and just so sad. She always had a smile on her face and truly loved being a nurse.  I will so miss our conversations about our families and our patients. God Bless You Phyllis - you are an amazing person and I am so blessed to have known you!

Sorry for you loss. Words can never express enough. I worked with Phyllis back at Motorola on Hayden in Scottsdale some many, many years ago we would sometimes ride share. So even thought its been awhile since we last spoke, when people touch your life it is never forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

I was blessed to be able to call Phyllis my friend. She was the one person who taught me to "just chill out" during those stressful days on 3C. She was a PHENOMENAL nurse and one of the most loving persons I have ever known. To her family, my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. May God give you strength to carry on. Make her proud!  I just wanted to share a time at work that just flashed into my mind. I was at the desk answering the phone and you had called and asked for Phyllis. I didn't see her around the desk area. She was in with a patient and I came back on the line and told you and you had then proceeded to tell me to tell her to call you when she was free. When she came back to the desk I had told her that you had called and she got this BIG smile on her face like a school girl who had a crush. I remember thinking WOW, they must really be in love. and I know how hard it hurts right now. I just wanted to share that with you.

I worked with Phyllis during our years at Banner Desert and remember her with smiles and laughter.  She relished her role as a patient advocate and always strove to provide the best care possible for her patients.  We loved hearing about the childrens' escapades, her "cruises" out on the boat, the latest discovery, interests in medieval days and her devoted love for her family.  The world is a better place because of Phyllis and especially for all of us who were personally touched by Phyllis' excuberance for life.  Soar with the angels, Phyllis - I'll be looking up to see your twinkle.

Terry, I only just heard of Phyllis' passing thru an email from Ray.  I do remember some of the wonderful time laughing with her.  Although it has been a while since I last saw her, I will always remember her zest for life.  I share in your loss and pray that you and the family will be comforted in knowing that she is at peace with te Lord and we shall see her again.

I am very grateful to have been fortunate enough to know Phyllis. She was a beautifu, vibrant, energetic woman with such a passion for life and it showed in everything she did. No matter what she had to face, she was positive and always seemed to know the right thing to do.  I think every day that I saw her she taught me something new, and I will miss her. I will miss her wisdom, her humor, and her bright light. 

Thank you Phyllis for everything you taught me and for being such a wonderful person. Rest in peace sweet lady. I will never forget you.

Phyllis was a great role model for me in the workplace.  Over the two years I knew her, I always knew that I could go to her for advice and always be guided in the right direction.  The energy that flowed through her is something that I wish I had even half of.  During the sometimes long and busy shifts at work I could always look to her and think "If Phyllis can do it, I can do it."  And she always did it with a smile on her face, always had something to make me laugh.  She was such an amazing nurse and someone that taught me a great deal.  I can't believe that now she's gone, but only in body.  Her spirit lives on through the love and memories created with those around her.

I was blessed to have had the chance to work with and get to know Phyllis! She was always very happy at work and never led on if she was stressed, behind or frustrated....the true signs of a great nurse! She never complained and was always willing to answer questions for the many new people that we had on the unit. She used to call me into a room to "see something cool!". I will never forget that about her. She made each one of us on that unit feel equal and needed and just as important as the next person. I loved sitting with her in the breakroom eating lunch and hearing a new story about the grandkids, pets, fish, adventures, jobs and Terry. I loved to see which cool socks and crocs she would have on...we used to compare those on a daily basis. I learned a lot from her and will always think of her fondly! Phyllis was a true team player both at home and at work. Be free Phyllis to run and play and hike whenever you would like. Look over us at BBMC and know we love and miss you everyday!!

Terry, it didn't take me long to understand the love that John had for both you and Phyllis.  Once I met you, I knew.  Terry, I wish you love and a lifetime of sweet memories. I wish you the peace of mind that comes with knowing that she is in a place now where she is healthy and feels whole.  A place where she sees you,  your children and your grandchildren and knows that she was loved. She is gone from your side, but she is forever in your heart.  Ileana Wendling.

Our hearts and minds are with you now.  Phyllis has been instrumental in changing people's lives.  She still does that for me.  Speaking in bahalf of myself and my family we love Phyllis.  She always spoke of her love for you, the kids and the grand kids.  She one day with a  smile on her face told me about how the "little stinkers" one day ate all the rice Krispies treats.  She loved them so very much.  She often spoke about you and all the fun you two would have together going on your off-road trips and how she loved spending "solo time" with you, her greatest love.  I couldn't help but notice every time that she spoke about you or saw you she would immediately smile.  The last 3 or more years have brought more than just friendly conversation to me, it has invited me into your lives as a true friend.  I can not tell you how sorry I am for your loss, but I truly believe that our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ have their arms enfolding her even at this time now.  Your family has lost her temporarily, may we all live the kind of lives as she lived, being full of charity,hope, and love.  May the Lord bless you. She loved the outdoors, her grandchildren, children, friends and family. Even more, she loved her husband, Uncle Terry. There were many lives that she touched, and those individuals are blessed to have known her. Her work as an RN revealed her true comapassion for human life. She was the best Aunt/Mom/Grandma/Wife/Friend and she will be missed.  Even so, we will cherish the memories that she left behind, and I challenge each and every individual to share those thoughts with everyone. God Bless!

There are simply no words that can express what the world lost on 9/14/2010. Aunt Sissy was a woman filled with love, compassion, hope, dignity, and leadership.  Moreover, she was an individual who would listen, and then provide advise that ultimately lead to resolve. Aunt Sissy loved the outdoors, her children, grandchildren, family, and most of all; Uncle Terry. I know that she touched many lives and that she provided those individuals with good advise and direction. Aunt Sissy loved her job as an RN, and her true compassion for human life was exposed. We lost the best Aunt/Mom/Grandma/Spouse/Friend/Nurse, but we will cherish her memory forever!

I don't even know where to begin.  Both Phyllis and you [Terry] have been an instrumental part of my life.  You both came into my life when I was a mere babe.  Twenty-two years old and defining myself as a responsible adult.  I hope you are aware of the positive influence you have made on my life.  Twenty-five years later and 2,000+ miles removed...I still consider both of you one of my closest and dearest friends.  As the oldest sibling, I was always providing the guidance and directions for my younger brothers and sisters.  Along with being dear friends, you both were fantastic role models for me. Phyllis will be greatly missed. Her stories about her "off-roading escapades, her grandkids and her "Jeep", makes you ask "where does she find the energy?"  She truly is a remarkable woman, always offering advice and help to her colleagues. She touched a lot of lives, not only her patients but her co-workers as well. My sincerest condolences to her family and my prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult times.

I meet Phyllis when I moved from WV to AZ & worked on 5 south. As a new RN she became a mentor.  She answered questions & calmed nerves. She set a good example of what a good  nurse should be. During breaks she shared her life with us. Her trips, her hikes, her family.  You could tell how much she loved her husband and enjoyed the time they spent together.  She shared her experiences she had with her grand kids.  She embraced the little things she was getting to do again while raising them. I remember telling her what a cool grandmother she was and her laughing.  The energy that this one woman had wore me out!   She always had a smile, a story to share & encouragement to give.  I was told once that some people leave foot prints on your heart and Phyllis left hers on mine.  I will cherish the time I spent with her on 5 south and smile at the memories she left me.  Thanks so much for sharing the pictures of her, I rarely saw her out of the blue scrubs!  She is truly beautiful!   Will pray for your family during this time.

Terry, memories of Phyl's strength will stay with you till the end of your days.  Unfortunately, grief is something we each have to slog through on our own.  There's just no help for it, but you will get through it. I'm truly sorry for your loss.  And remember, it's just one day at a time.

I was very fortunate to get to know Phyllis and work with her. Phyllis enjoyed life, enjoyed her family and enjoyed her career. You will be missed and may you rest in peace. I miss you already.

I met Phyllis and Terry through my friend Ray Austin. We enjoyed camping, and 4-wheeling. Phyllis, a natural born activity director, did so with such joy. She had a knack for being on top of the day. Leading us on hikes,camping games, hot springs sitting, geo cache chasing. 
She was a hoot . I miss her.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Phyllis was a great person. I am happy to have known your family. I have fond memories of visits to your house.

Over the last several years I have accumulated many visual memories of places in Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.  Most all of these fun times where spent with Terry and Phyllis.  No one had more enthusiasm for camping, exploring new place, 4-wheeling, hiking, and Geocaching.  Although, I will continue doing these things, thoughts of her gusto in these activities will forever jump to the front of mind.   Phyllis we will truly miss you!

I find it impossible to express in a few words Phyllis's spark plug personality.  Her high level of energy combined with her zest for life and the outdoors was only dwarfed by her compassion for others.  The truth is everyone who knew her became well aware of these qualities.  Though at times I would not see her for months, she always made me feel as if only minutes had gone bysince we last spoke.  She had a way of making someone feel so comfortable and warm in her presence.  Her example in how to live ones life will always be something anyone would do well to emulate.

May God bless Phyllis and her family as he guides them through this time of stress and loss.  May her example and the knowledge that her spirit remains with us carry them through.

Aunt Sissy, I love you so very much! Thank you for being there for me as I was growing up. I can remember going to Arizona every summer to visit. You always had so many fun things planned for me! I miss you so much already, and I will never forget everything you have done for me!

I was very blessed to have known Phyllis.For the brief time that I did, she was always very kind to me. She had a  loving heart that you could feel was genuine. I was also blessed to have been able to talk with her before she passed. My condolences go out to her family at this time.

We came to know Phyllis through Terry, a most dear friend of many years. We first met Terry in 1971 at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. We came to know Phyllis to be as loving as is Terry. She enjoyed life, and left a memorable impression upon everyone she met. Her kindness and compassion for others in her everyday life and her chosen profession will be remembered.  May God shine his blessings upon her, and give strength to her family in these times. God does not close a door without opening a window; somewhere, that window is open, and through it will flow the grace and fortitude necessary to overcome this moment.
