Raymond "Ray" Eugene Simms, 70, passed away on July 23, 2023, in Arizona. He was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois by his father Gene and mother Joy (McLean) Simms. He graduated from Harlem High School in 1972 and married the love of his life, Vicki Simms, on May 21, 1977. Ray worked for Honeywell as an aerospace test technician for 29 years. Above all else, Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. His other passion in life was sports, particularly the Green Bay Packers. He was a proud season ticket holder and lifelong fan.
Ray was survived by his younger brother Ron, his former wife and friend Vicki Simms, and their two children: Andy (Mariah Quinn) Simms and Jessica (Billy) Day. He was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Kayla Simms (18), Lance Simms (17), Emilia Day (6), Jozie Day (3), and Desmond Day (8 months). Ray was preceded in death by his younger brother Rick and his parents Wesley "Gene" and Mary "Joy" Simms.
Ray will forever be missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family is planning on spreading his ashes in Green Bay next season as his final resting place. Go Pack Go!
