

Richard “Dick” C. Dooley, 82, of Mesa, AZ passed away Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 in Chandler. He was born December 25, 1927 in Melcher, IA to the late Carl & Alice C. (Maddy) Dooley. In 1942 he and his family moved to Zion, IL and he resided in the area for 40 years. Richard served as a volunteer fireman in Winthrop Harbor and for Johnson Outboards until his retirement, and he owned and operated a hobby shop in Waukegan.
He married Ellen (Kennedy) in 1973 and they moved to Arizona in 1986. They enjoyed a wonderful life and traveled from coast to coast in their motor home. Dick and was a life member of Oriental Lodge #20 AF & AM of Mesa, Waukegan Masonic Lodge # 79, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 2082 in Mesa, AZ and Apache Junction, AZ Elks Club #2349 & the American Legion Post # 0865 of Zion, IL. He will be remembered for his lively sense of humor. Dick was a good and thoughtful friend to many. He is survived by one son: Donald James Dooley; a sister-in-law: Phyllis Dooley; his niece Rody Cleveland; nephews: Ronald, Timothy, David and Michael Dooley and John & Jerry Kennedy, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Ellen in Jan. of 2005, his parents and one brother Myron.
Visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 from 9:00 to 11:00 pm at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL, Masonic services will be held at 12:00 pm with funeral services to follow immediately. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. (847) 336-0127.
