Bob was born in Lawrence, MA on October 2, 1949. He came to AZ at a young age and claimed to be “nearly native”.
When he was only 18 years old, Bob met the love of his life while working at Bob’s Big Boy. He married Betty on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV.
Bob worked in restaurant management for over 20 years before changing careers and becoming a sales rep for Mesa Fully Formed. He retired after 30 years of service in construction in March, 2020.
Bob became a Christian in 1972 and faithfully loved and served his Savior for the rest of his life. He was active in his church and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He loved music, but couldn’t sing. He could, however, whistle a mean tune.
He loved woodworking and made many special pieces for his family, including a cradle for his 1st grandchild.
A blood donor for many years, he faithfully gave over 9 gallons of blood, and continued for as long as he was able.
Among all the things in his life, what brought him the most pleasure were his wife, his 2 daughters, and his 6 grandchildren. He had fun teaching his girls how to ride a bike and drive a car. And he never complained when they borrowed his clothes. He was always up for playing with his grandkids whether building train sets, Jenga towers, Legos, wood projects or joining in a tea party.
A fan of word puzzles and games, he could also often be found working a Sudoku puzzle.
He was proceeded in death by his parents: Joseph and Joan Poulin. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty, his daughters Amy Mottern (Todd), Jolene Bettencourt (Lance), and his grandchildren Megan Ruble (Gavin), Jake, Kate, Isaac, Julia and Silas. He also has 5 surviving brothers; Dennis (Teri), Ronald (Janice), William (Abbey), James (Michelle), and Richard (Mia).
The family will receive friends on May 27, 2025 between 3-5pm at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Road, Mesa.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Sunshine Acres (3405 N. Higley Road, Mesa, AZ 85215), a Christian home for children, a ministry Bob has supported for many years.
