

Roland Anthony Gomez, age 47, passed away Suddenly on January 23, 2026 in Chandler, Arizona. He was born on February 2, 1978 in Douglas, Arizona to parents Tony and Rosa Maria Gomez. He is the youngest of four children, Donna, Peggy and Rene. As a child he participated in little league. He found a love for golf and football during his high school years, these stayed with him throughout his whole life. He attended Douglas High School, where he made lifelong friends. Graduating in 1996.
At the age of 12, he met Diane Martinez and they would begin dating at 15 years old. Together they would marry in 2001 and he would welcome the Martinez family as his own. In 2003, Roland and Diane received the blessing of the birth of their first child, Emilio, adding the first male of the next generation of Gomez's to help carry on the family name. Five years later they welcomed their second child, Sayanette. Becoming a girl dad, would soften his heart in a way he never knew possible. He never said no to his Sweetie Pie. Being a husband and father was Roland's biggest joys within his life.
He spent his life having adventures with his family, going to Disneyland, Universal Studios, beaches in Puerto Penasco, Mexico and their favorite beaches of San Diego, California. Roland felt his most peace being in any form of water; oceans, lakes, rivers, creeks and pools. Together his family would also enjoy going on camping trips to Northern Arizona. Continuing a family tradition that he and Diane had began in their High School years.
Roland also had a love for music. Going to concerts was his favorite thing to do. He believed that everyone would love heavy metal music, if they just listened to it, then once they did they would become a part of "The Tribe". Roland and his family had a love for watching movies together and having family movie nights. Roland would not pass up on his favorite Mel brooks movies. He loved 80's movies, comedies, Disney movies and documentaries. A good movie quote was always being said in their household and was a part of their daily life.
Roland began his career as Estimator for pipeline divisions, working his way up within a few years to be a Project Manager. After a career change, He started working for the United States Postal Services, where he would remain working loyally. Throughout his time there, he had the privilege of creating friendships with co-workers. He appreciated those friends dearly, they helped to make his experience more enjoyable.
Roland was a kind person and made friends easily with many around him. He believed that if he showed respect, kindness and loyalty to others, they would reflect that back. He always cherished his family and the friendships he had throughout his life. Those in his Tribe will miss him dearly.
Roland is survived by his loving wife; Diane Gomez, his son; Emilio, his daughter; Sayanette, his parents Tony and Rosa Maria Gomez, his siblings; Donna (Daryl Lister) Gomez, Peggy (Francisco) Martinez, Rene (Pamela) Gomez, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves behind his furbabies; Meili, Papi and Canelo.
Roland was preceded in passing by his cousin; Jerry Sanchez, his beloved mother-in-law; Magdalena Martinez and his furbaby; Tiny.
A Rosary and Celebration of Life will be held in Roland's honor on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11am at Mariposa Gardens; 6747 E. Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 85206. Following the services, the Gomez family will be hosting a gathering at Roland and Diane's home.
