Samuel Robert Moody Ward, of Mesa, AZ passed away on July 9, 2016 at the age of 56. He was born in Cleburne, TX to Robert William and Norma Deane [Dikeman] Ward. Throughout his life, Sam travelled to many areas of the world including Paris and Morocco due to his father being in the U.S. Air Force. After his father was discharged, they moved to Arizona, where he graduated in 1978 from Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe. Following high school, Sam worked as a project specialist for Motorola, where, in 1988 he met the love of his life, Cheryl Hoopes; they were eventually married in 1991 and together raised two children, Colton and Danielle. Sam also worked for Avnet and Phillips Semiconductors. Sam was fun loving and energetic and just a “kid at heart”. He loved being outdoors whether it was at the beach, tending to his yard (he took great pride in his yard), or cooking out on the barbeque. He also had a love for animals, especially his dogs. But what brought him the most joy was spending time with his wife and kids. Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Norma as well as three siblings, Johnny, Kay and Terry. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Cheryl Ward; son Colton Ward; daughter Danielle Ward; brother Frank Ward and his sister Norma Edith Tipton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
