He was 48 years old. Travis was known for the strength of his big heart and his big hugs.
Travis was born on March 1, 1977 to parents, Janis J. Smith and Michael S. Smith. Shortly after graduating from Taylorsville High School, he moved with his family to Arizona. In Arizona, he earned his college degree and went on to a dedicated career for GoDaddy. He approached his work with integrity and diligence earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Above all, Travis was a devoted husband to his eternal companion, Amy Larson Smith. Together they built a home centered on faith, love, and laughter. As a father of four treasured children, Skye, Sherrod Jr., Shea, and Sage, he found his greatest joy. He was their protector and greatest example.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Travis served a 2 year mission in New York and served willingly in many callings. His most cherished calling was teaching with his wife in Primary. He had a strong testimony of the restored gospel and the eternal nature of families.
Throughout his battle with cancer (#nepcwarrior), he became a strong advocate for early detection. He expressed deep appreciation for his medical team, family, and ward members who ministered to him and his family with meals, prayers, and acts of kindness. He often spoke of the peace he felt through attending the temple, which he did at least weekly with his wife during his cancer journey. He shared with others the comfort of knowing that death is not the end as he anticipated his next mission.
He is survived by his loving wife, Amy; his four children, Skye Michelle Smith, Sherrod Travis Smith Jr. (Brooklyn), Shea Joseph Smith (Sahya), and Sage Leanne Smith; his parents Michael S. and Janis J Smith; his siblings, Janette Booth (Ken), Todd Smith (Jennifer), Trevor Smith (Natalie), Tyson Smith (Brianna) and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Whitney and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mesa East 18th Ward, located at 2228 East Brown Road, Mesa AZ 85213 on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
