Dear Nana,

I miss you so much!  I can't believe I won't ever get to hug you again, or I won't ever get to eat candy with you.  You left a HUGE impact on me and everyone else!

You were so full of life, and I love you so much.  I will NEVER EVER forget you.  You could make me smile without even saying anything.  I loved your sense of humor, every time I would see you I just felt happy.  I love you so much and I will miss you more than anything in the world, but I am grateful that the last thing I did was hug you and can even describe how happy and grateful I am for doing that.  

I hope you are eating lots of Kit Kats up in heaven.  I think about you every day.  And trust me for me to think about you every day means you had to have left a HUGE impact on me.

I found out about Sylvia's passing away.  If I'd known, I would have been there.  She was so young, beautiful, and talented.  I can see her beautiful smile from here.

I was very sad when I heard the bad news.  When I visited in America, I feel that Nana is a very kind and graceful lady with pleasant personality.  I cherished our time together.  Now I just look at the pictures to miss her.  I know everyone was heartbroken when she gone.  But dear Frank, please do not grieve too much.  I know you two love each other so many years and you can't accept the fact easily.  However Nana will feel at ease when she sees you are fine.  She will be happy to see you visit children often and be healthy like before.  Next time I will visit you in America again.  Please take care.

I first met Sylvia in 1951 at the home of my future husband, John D'Angelo.  John and I were dating and we had gone to a Mardi Gras parade together.  Afterwards, we went to John's house at 440 Banks Street in New Orleans.  Johns' brother Frank and Sylvia had just started dating, and they were at the house.  Sylvia was a beautiful blond and was so sweet and lively.  She loved dancing, good music, and having a good time.  She was the perfect match for Frank, who also loved dancing and good music.  We all got along so well together.

Frank and Sylvia married in 1954, and I was a bridesmaid in the wedding.  I remember it was a beautiful day and Frank and Sylvia were a beautiful couple.

Sylvia was a wonderful mother and wife, and she was a good friend.  We did many things together since we were about the same age.  We ate dinner at each other's home during the week, and she made the best fried chicken and hamburgers.  When you are young and just starting married life as I was, this was something special.  I did not know how to cook well, so we appreciated Sylvia's cooking.

When the young couple, Frank and Sylvia, moved away from New Orleans, we wrote to each other once a week.  I missed her so much.  My best friend seemed to be so far away, but she never forgot me.  Although many years have passed since that time, I will always remember Sylvia as that lovely, lovely girl and great friend.

 The things I remember about Aunt Sylvia when she was young is just how pretty she was.  She was dating you, my mom's brother.  She always had a kind word to say to me, and she was always so sweet to me.  I was ten years her junior, and I would be at my grandmother's house often.
 Aunt Sylvia and you would double date with Uncle J.J. (my mother's other brother) and his girlfriend (Aunt) Barbara.  I thought these two couples were the cutest couple, and I wanted someday to dress up and to be able to look like my beautiful aunts.
 Because my Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Frank moved to Arizona, I didn't see them too often.  At that time I lived in Baton Rouge.  When I did see them, I always remember my Aunt Sylvia as being this beautiful and bubbly person.
 In recent years, Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Frank would come to New Orleans, and my husband Wayne and I would take them out to eat.  Aunt Sylvia never changed.  She was always very warm and witty.  We became Facebook friends, and I could tell she was still fun-loving as always.  She also cared very much for her family and for the Lord.
 When Aunt Sylvia got sick one day, I noticed a big change in her.  She didn't want to go out, and that was not like her.  Perhaps she wasn't feeling very well.  
 I was heartbroken when she passed away.  I will always remember her smile, her great sense of humor, and her beauty.  All these things shone through.  Heaven is a little brighter today!

Uncle Frank,
 Aunt Sylvia was such a bright light in this world.  She brought life to everything she touched.  Knowing her has been the greatest gift, and I feel so very blessed to have known her.  I cannot think of a time when she didn't have a smile on her face or a twinkle in her eyes.  Her sense of humor, her love of family, and just plain joy of life were awesome to behold.
 The way she would gaze at you Uncle Frank let everyone know how much she loved you.  She would watch you speak with such adoration and pride.  Aunt Sylvia will always hold a very special place in our hearts.  We miss her greatly.     Love,
