Terry Lee Barrett

Terry was born March 12, 1951 in Bryan, Texas to Joe and Mary Barrett. In 1962, Terry relocated to Arizona with his parents, sister Sharon, and brother Frank.

Terry became a Firefighter for the Tempe Fire Department in 1973 and retired as a Battalion Chief after 25 years of service.

In 1996 Terry began a second career in the boat industry. What started as a backyard side business, turned into a successful boat dealership and service center that he ran with his family in Mesa. In 2005, Terry went corporate when he accepted a National Sales Manager position for Tige Boats in Abilene, Texas.

It's hard to say exactly when he retired... or if he ever really did! Terry was a jack-of-all-trades, and was always working on something for someone.

Throughout his life, Terry enjoyed skydiving, windsurfing, golfing, shooting, hunting, playing guitar, traveling, and being an active member of his church. He was also an award winning power lifter and a licensed pilot.

Of all of his accomplishments, being the best Dad and Granddad that anyone could ask for is what he was most proud of.

In 2013, Terry married his wife Lillian. They shared what seemed like a lifetime of adventure and happiness in their nine years together.

Terry is survived by his wife Lillian; children Tamara Barrett (Chase Warren), Kevin Barrett, Julie Shannon (Patrick), and Derek Leddy; three granddaughters: Nora, Bridget, and Paislee. He is also survived by his brother and sister, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Aggie.

A funeral service for Terry will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 South Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ 85202, followed by a reception. Terry will be laid to rest Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 North Center Street, Mesa, AZ 85201.
