

Mr. Flynn, the oldest son of Timothy Carver Flynn and Rosalyn Van Thiel Flynn, was born in Chicago, IL on April 3, 1956. When he was 13, the family moved to Eugene, OR. He graduated from North Eugene High School in 1973. The following year, he married Barbara Coverdell, his high school sweetheart, and they had three children, who survive him: Sean Patrick Flynn, of Phoenix, AZ, Silena Flynn Smith, of Queen Creek, AZ; and Jacob Christopher Flynn, of Tempe, AZ.
Hardworking and ambitious, Terry was a professional baker for most of his life, and spent many years honing his skills and working his way up to the positions of director of bakery operations and merchandising manager at a major regional grocery chain store. In the late 90s, he left Arizona and lived in Montana and Nebraska before making his way to the East Coast. There, he realized an entrepreneurial dream and became co-owner of the prestigious landmark B & W Bakery in Hackensack, NJ., specializing in German pastries.
He was an enthusiastic camper and an expert outdoorsman, and enjoyed the challenge of such sports as skiing and scuba diving. Among his travels was a trip to the exotic island of Roatan, Honduras, a mecca for divers. He was a frequent visitor to Mexico, and loved cooking, eating and Oregon Ducks football. He was an avid bargain hunter. He had been a member and former officer of the International Order of Foresters (IOF).
Terry will be remembered for his disciplined approach to work and life, his handsome Irish good looks and well-groomed appearance, his wry sense of humor and his love of meeting and socializing with persons of all backgrounds. He was known among family and friends for his eager and zealous willingness to participate in projects, big or small, difficult or easy, to contribute to their well-being.
In addition to his children, he is survived by his siblings, Nancy Lee Brown of Eugene, OR; Keith Carver Flynn of Scottsdale AZ; Elizabeth Flynn-Connors of Sleepy Hollow, NY; and Eileen Patricia Adams of San Francisco CA; his son-in-law, Jeffrey Smith, a firefighter for the City of Chandler; two daughters-in-law, Letty Hernandez and Ronda Flynn; his sister-in-law, Christinna Melton Flynn of Scottsdale; his brother-in-law,. Gerald M. Connors of Sleepy Hollow NY; seven grandchildren, Ashley Chantel Flynn; Amy Moss; Johnny Hernandez; Cayden, Trevin and Emery Smith; and Jeylin Curtis-Flynn; and several. nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Sunday, August 28, at the Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 East Broadway Road, Mesa AZ. Flowers are welcome.
