

Theodore Edward Targosz Jr, age 70, of Gilbert Arizona, passed away February 4th, 2021. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 30, 1950. He was raised in Livonia, Michigan, and graduated from Bentley High School. Ted graduated from Michigan State University in 1972, with a B. S. in Computer Science. He married Kathleen McGinn February 24, 1973, then began a 23 year career at Detroit Edison as a computer programmer. During this period, Ted began his love of and collecting of antique toys and tapestries, which continued until his death. He was active in the local church as a Bible study teacher, and performed in many church drama productions, as well as foster parenting puppies for Paws With A Cause. After retirement, Ted had a second career as a debt counselor. In 2000 came the move to Arizona, where he continued debt counseling, and activities in the local church, as well as a lengthy period employed as a Weight Watchers group instructor. Fun loving, adventurous, generous, and dedicated to serving God and other were qualities of Ted's life. He also enjoyed hiking, bicycling, attending theatre productions and wearing Hawaiian shirts (his post retirement uniform). He will be sorely missed by members of Focus 314 church, AARP tax volunteers association, Banner Baywood Heart Hospital volunteers, fellow antique toy club members, and countless friends and family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Kathleen, sisters Evelyn Hegg of Hemet, California, and Mary Wagner of Clarkdale, Arizona. He was predeceased by his father, Theodore, his mother, Mary, brother James Michael, and sister Theresa. Memorial donations may be made to Phoenix Rescue Mission or Teen Challenge of Arizona.
