

Mesa - Vern Paul Grischow, beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 2, 2022. He was born in Bensenville, Illinois, the son of George and Alice (Finke) Grischow and worked on their vegetable farm (now O'Hare Field) delivering crops to vendors in Chicago.
After high school, Vern went on to a successful career as an Insurance Agent for Country Companies, achieving record-breaking sales to eventually become the Manager of their DuPage County Office. He invested wisely and was a Gentleman Farmer, buying and leasing farms in Harvard, Naperville and Princeton, Illinois. A true "people person," Vern treated everyone kindly and talked to all respectfully. As a faithful Christian, he ushered at church in both Illinois and Arizona.
He leaves behind his wife, Eunice (Ehlert); Daughter, Christine Rogers; Sons, Steven (Donna) and Duane (Tammy) Grischow; Stepchildren, Laura (John) Schaus and Robert (Launie) Lindemann; nine grandchildren, Adam and Sam Rogers, Natalie (David) Shandera, Johnny (Kaylee) Schaus, Paul Schaus, Maxwell, Luke, Lauren, and Charlie Lindemann; and eight great grandchildren, Ava, Finn and Nora Rogers, Elizabeth and Victoria Shandera, and Madalyn, Charlotte, and John W. Schaus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Orland and Leonard Grischow, and sister Florence Smith. He is survived by brothers Howard and Rheinhard (Maralyn) Grischow, twin sister Lorraine Backes and Lois (Jack) Gomes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4930 East Greenway Road, Scottsdale, 85254, on January 29, 2022, at 10:30am, with lunch to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Vern’s Celebration of Life will continue at 4:00pm at the East Valley home of John and Laura Schaus. Burial will take place at a date to be determined in Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Resurrection Lutheran Church or American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA).
