William (Bill) Donald Hack passed away on his 70th birthday, March 22, 2022 in Arizona after a brief illness. Bill was a 1970 graduate of Grass Lake (MI) High School where he excelled academically and athletically. He was a member of the undefeated football team in 1968 and helped lead the track team to consecutive state championships in 1969 and 1970. He was a two-time state champion in the long jump and still holds the school record in that event. He also holds the school record in the 100-yard dash.
Bill was a graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Microbiology/Biochemistry ‘74 and M.P.H in Radiological Health Physics ‘79. For many years, he was a founding member of Medical Physics Consultants in Ann Arbor, MI, later working in Toledo, OH, Reno, NV, and Mesa, AZ as a Diagnostic Medical Physicist.
Bill enjoyed watching his children at their many sports activities. In his later years, Bill and his fiancé, Vicki, spent their time in Mesa, AZ and their summers in Pinetop, AZ. They loved fishing and exploring AZ with their two dogs, Bernie and Blossom.
Bill is survived by his four children: Erin (Justin) Strong of Torrance, CA, Josh (Brooke) Hack of Morgantown, WV, Andrew (Catherine) Hack of Dallas, TX, and Kayla (Tim) Niemann of Northville, MI; his ten grandchildren: Malachi, Marina, Elisha & Cora Strong, Avery & Larson Hack, Brady & Leif Hack, Elias & Theoren Niemann; and his fiancé, Vicki Balko. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Althea Hack, and his sister, Patricia Baldwin.
A private family service is being planned for a later date.
