Tony Rutland was a friend of the Leal family, his positive attitude toward life was so refreshing. His love for his family and Susan was beyond words, and now he's gone far too soon. He loved to ride his Harley and his  University of Texas Longhorns, even when they lost !!

Tony and I were local truck driver at night with Helwig, he always had a joke to tell,he always made me laugh 😃, will miss you my friend, prayers go to your family, Susan it will be ok trust 🙏 in God love ❤ you. 

While serving aboard USS Independence CV-62 between 1982-1985. Tony and I served in the Same department AIMD. He was in IM-1 Division and I was in IM-4. We lived in the same berthing area and we made good friends with each other. He was a type of guy that could listen to your stories, good or bad, then tell you his. More than a shipmate at times, I could really call him a brother of mine. Always ready to bring a quick smile or laughter to anyone, nothing better than just being a "Good Ole Boy" His tall black cowboy hat made him stand out and yes he made that hat look good. My sadness is having lost contact with him, now he is gone and we will never brighten each other days again.

Tony and Susan was ours neighbors for long time tony was a easy friend to be a good person to be around and we share a pleasure for figs because his grandma has a tree in her house. 

Tony, always made my day with his larger than life personality. We shared a lot of good conversations together. I am proud to call him my friend. RIP my friend.

Tony was a wonderful man and he will be missed dearly.

Tony and I were married in 1977 and had two beautiful children,Christina and Melonie. He will be greatly missed by his family. Our prayers go out to all the family.
