

Betty Sue Bedinger was born on October 8, 1931 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Rene & Pearl Bedinger. As the eldest of three children who grew up in Terrell, Texas, she was especially close to her brother John Ed. As a child, Betty Sue was mischievous, always dancing around and a very happy child.
She was an animal lover from a young age, taking in strays, feeding them and helping them deliver their babies if need be. Two of her favorite four-legged friends who will always be with her were Maggie & Sugar. She graduated from Terrell High School, Class of ’49.
Betty Sue met Donald Lloyd Ferris in her early teens and they were constantly together thru high school. They married on November 4, 1949 and were married for 42 years until his passing. They raised six daughters together, and later, Betty Sue helped raise many of her grandchildren. She was a stay-at-home-mother, one of the hardest jobs a woman can have. She sewed clothing for her girls, baked for them, did some embroidery and even crocheted a baby blanket for her grandchilden. She was very involved with her children. She was devoted to her family; a loving, giving, active mother and grandmother who was always busy. Her grandchildren call her “Grandmama”.
When she could, her and her husband loved to travel. They would take train trips to Seattle or New York. They also enjoyed going dancing together. She loved classic country music and the likes of Tammy Wynette and George Jones. She also liked Donna Summer. She and Lloyd loved to entertain; they would put on a great gathering for all their friends and family to enjoy. In her down time, Betty Sue enjoyed reading romance novels and making ceramic pieces. She also liked watching her favorite shows on television. Matlock, Golden Girls, Murder She Wrote and Quincy. She was also a big sports fan! She followed the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. As mentioned earlier, she was an active lady. She was very involved in the Garland Sports Association, the local bowling league, and the Senior Citizens Center.
Betty Sue was a woman of faith. Growing up, she served as an altar girl in the Episcopalian church. She also served as a secretary, led various prayer groups, vacation bible schools and even sang in the choir.
On Sunday, July 20, 2014, Betty Sue Ferris was called Home. She was met in Heaven by her parents, Rene & Pearl Bedinger; her husband, Donald “Lloyd” Ferris; and her sister, Joann Bedinger.
Her Life & Legacy will continue to be honored and remembered by her daughters: Donna Ferris of Mesquite; Dianne Ferris Lee of Wylie; Chelle Ferris Bell and her husband George of New Kent, VA; Patti Marshall and her husband Steve of Iowa Park; Bunni Ferris Mayfield of Rockwall; and Jennifer Ferris and her husband Jason Alexander of Royse City; her brother, John Ed Bedinger; 21 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren; and many more nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
