Cecil Lee Wilkins Sr.

Cecil Lee Wilkins, age 88, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Cecil was born April 27, 1932 in Woodstock, Virginia to Esta and John Wilkins as one of fourteen children, seven boys and seven girls. Cecil joined the Army Air Corp at the early age of 14 and was a glider pilot. After being discharged from the military, Cecil met and married the love of his life, Francis Dobbins Wilkins of Hampton, Virginia and they were married for 49 years until her death in March of 2002. Together they would raise four sons; Cecil Jr, James, Steven and Timothy and two grandchildren; Cecil III and Jennifer. Cecil had a passion for trucks and spent his life as a long haul truck driver and started his own company, Cecil Wilkins Trucking which he ran until the day he passed. Cecil attended Crandall United Methodist Church until his health would no longer allow it and was a lifelong professing Christian.

Cecil Wilkins was preceded in death by his parents Esta P Wilkins and John David Wilkins and by his loving wife Francis D Wilkins and two of his son Timothy D Wilkins and Steven D Wilkins. Cecil was also preceded by all of his siblings other than an older sister, Fletta "Sis" Wilkins.

Cecil is survived by his eldest son Cecil L Wilkins Jr. of Moody, Texas and his children Cecil L Wilkins III and Jennifer Epperson, as well as James D Wilkins ( and wife Pamela K Wilkins) of Seagoville, Texas and their son James D Wilkins Jr. Cecil is also survived by Tim's children Timothy Wilkins Jr, Tommy Wilkins and Sarah Wilkins. Cecil leaves behind a long list of friends who will miss him greatly.

A visitation for Cecil will be held Monday, August 24, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 24, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A committal service will occur Monday, August 24, 2020 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. A burial will occur at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas.
