Elizandro "Elly" Quintana Decena, Jr., born July 5, 1969 in Mexico City, Mexico, was called to heaven on Thursday, March 3, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He is preceded in death by his father, Elizandro Martinez Decena. He is survived by his mother Evangelina Quintana, wife Veronica Lea Decena, daughters Vanessa Marie Decena, Margaret Marie Montante (Norsi,Son-in-law), Melissa Ann Cole (Terry, Son-in-Law), Gloria Deanna Decena (Jimmy, Son-In-Law), beautiful grandchildren, Madison Marie Montante (11), Sofia Marie Montante (9), Cecilia Rose Olmeda (18 months) and Norsi Gerardo Montante Jr. (9 months). The love Elly had for his daughters was pure and whole and he was always watching out for them, protecting them and making sure they were OK, even when they didn't know it. The love he possessed for his grandchildren was the most special bond. His babies knew Popo would do anything and everything for them. Nothing was off limits or too expensive when it came to his babies. When baby Norsi was born it excited him so much to finally have a boy in the Decena crew.
Elly was a hard working husband and father, always keeping his family as his priority. His life creed was to "always" put family first and to ensure his girls were number one. He started in the delivery business and worked his way up to management by being blessed to have an amazing mentor, Kent Van Kleeck who saw a true diamond in the rough and shaped him into the strong, business man he was destined to be. Elly started in the magazine and retail industry in the early 2000s with TNG and finally with The News Group where he was an Executive Director, building relationships and clientele across the country.
Elly's love for lowriding was well known but what was even bigger was his love and desire to help others. He taught his girls to always give back. After many years away, Elly got back into the Lowriding lifestyle joining a car club where he could showcase his baby "El Gran Pinguino" and in 2020 founded, Distinctive Image car club. His goal was to do what he did best, make new lifelong friends and give back to others. The clubs purpose is to do good and give back to those in need, such as partnering with Children's Medical Center for Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders and the United Lowriders Association. By all who loved Elly they knew him as a great man, one who cared deeply for those around him. Elly would literally give you the shirt off his back. He fought passionately and hard for those he loved. When he was diagnosed with Carcinoma of Unknown Primary he saw it like any other battle. From day one he was fighting and no matter how much pain he was in or how sick treatment made him he kept saying, "it's OK, I can take it". He wanted so badly to live and be here for his family so he could continue to take care of them like he's always done. Elly was always growing and learning from his life lessons that made him a strong, powerful protector and the loving man he was. If he was at a party, you knew it, as his son in laws will tell you, if he was there you were guaranteed to have a great time, you knew you were safe and you were guaranteed to be tipsy when you left.
Elly is no longer in pain and is cancer free, sitting with is lord and his father, looking down at his loved ones and friends he called family smiling and he will always be there for us. One of the last messages he gave to his girls is "Wherever you go I will be" and he meant that.
