George Stephen Cawthorn was born on May 30, 1965 in Dallas, Texas to Morris Cawthorn & Bonnie Vertal. He was the youngest of two boys who grew up in Seagoville. He attended Seagoville High School and went on to truck driving school to become a driver. In order to help out his family and support his hobbies, “Steve” drove trucks for over 30 years. Steve enjoyed listening to classic rock from the 70s and watching old westerns on t.v. such as Gun Smoke or Rifle Man. He truly loved collecting and the recreational use of various types of guns and rifles. He liked to go shooting down at the bottoms of the Trinity River with close friends. He was a member of the National Rifle Association for over 20 years. And everyone knew not to touch his “baby”, his Dodge pick-up truck. On May 30, of this year, on his birthday, he married Denise Gibeau in Kaufman. He was proud to call her two sons as his step-sons. Steve was a caring, kind man, who always took care of everyone else. He was generous and had a great sense of humor with lots of inside jokes with people. He had a bigger-than-life personality and was very patriotic. He will be missed. On Tuesday, August 26, 2014 George “Steve” Cawthorn was called to meet his maker. He was met in the clouds above by his father and best friend, Morris Cawthorn. We know they are sharing a beer as we celebrate his life. His life will continue to be celebrated and remembered by his wife, Denise M. Gibeau of Arlington; his step-sons: David & Jeremy Utes; his mother Bonnie Vertal Cawthorn; his brother Morris Michael Cawthorn and his nephew Preston; and many more relatives and close friends.
