Joy Ann Page, 80, of Nevada, Texas passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Sunday, December 17, 2023. She was born in Royse City, Texas on September 2, 1943 to Troy and Eunice Page and big sister, Tonya where they made their home in Nevada, Texas. A few years later their family grew with the addition of little brother, JI and then baby sister, Laura (Larcie). Joy was a fiery red headed kid who loved big, hated cats, and enjoyed time spent with her Mom learning to sew, paint, and cook.
Joy attended Community schools and excelled in cheerleading, basketball and making lifelong friends. It was there that she met her first love, Larry Abbott. After graduation they married and built a beautiful life together along with their two daughters, Shelly and Jeannine. After years of traveling they settled in Lancaster, Texas where Joy enjoyed playing tennis, volunteering, playing bridge, and being a homemaker. Joy was great at hosting, from big parties, ladies luncheons and Sunday night dinners with neighbors. She was quite the self-made cook and baker, hosting annual Christmas cooking baking days which her grandchildren and daughter, Shelly still continue to do every year.
Years after the passing of her husband, she met and married Cecil Copeland of Lancaster, Texas. Together they enjoyed singing in the church choir, landscaping, building a new home in Nevada, cooking and serving meals at church and spending their golden years together.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Eunice Page and late husband, Larry Abbott. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Cecil; daughter Shelly Griffin and husband, Mark and daughter, Jeannine Abbott; two granddaughters, Jacquelyn Joy "JJ" Farmer and husband, Josh and Kaylan McDaniel and husband, Kirk and two great-granddaughters Jaycee and Jaelynn Farmer as well as a host of step children, siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family and a lot of friends.
Our Maw-Maw will be greatly missed and remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, infectious smile, great hugs, multiple talents, but most of all for her famous chocolate pies.
"Please don't take my sunshine away..."
