

Michael was born on April 22, 1953, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Smith L. Elder and Dorris Leatherwood. He was raised in Dallas, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Lake Highlands High School.
On February 15, 1989, Michael married the love of his life, Susana Padilla Elder. Together they built a life centered around family and raised four children.
Michael worked as an electrical technician for the United States Postal Service, where he dedicated more than 25 years of service before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
In his spare time, Michael enjoyed listening to classic rock and roll music, watching and reading science fiction movies and books, and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was helping raise two little girls, Alexis and Mailey, as his own. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. He had a kind spirit and was known as a very friendly man with a humble personality, always ready with a smile or a warm hug.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Susana Elder; his children David, Lisa, Carina, and Cecil; his grandchildren Alexis, Mailey, Sian, and Fabian; and his siblings Robert, Sandra, Mike Allen, Dickey, and Deborah.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
