Buck was raised in Porterville, California and attended Porterville High School.
Buck served in the United States Navy with 3 years of service during the Viet Nam war.
He married Frances Marlene Gauntt in 1972 and the couple had two daughters, Michelle Renee Buck and Dawnn Heather Buck.
He was a welder for the greater part of his career but for the last 15 years before his retirement he was a Patient Care Tech at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas. He felt this was his calling and enjoyed this work immensely.
In his spare time Buck enjoyed working with his hands, riding and cleaning his motorcycle, grilling, playing golf, fishing, playing poker, and watching old westerns and NCIS on television.
His family and friends will always remember him as a loving husband, father, grandpa and "Papparoni" (to his 3 great grandchildren). A mentor, an old Hippie (the good kind), a man that never met a stranger, a military brother, a guy that could sit for hours swapping stories about his younger days as well as his plans for his upcoming projects. His willingness to help his family and friends with their projects as well.
He is preceded in death by: his grandparents, his parents, Charles and Irma Buck, his younger sister, Cynthia Buck Salcedo, and his daughter, Dawnn Heather Buck.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances Gauntt Buck, his sister Carolyn Buck Lalanne, his daughter Michelle Renee Buck Burleson and husband Steve, grand-daughter Dawnn LeAnn Hemby, grand-son Rusty Burleson and wife Sandra, and three great grand-children, Kole Burleson, Kallee Burleson and Kade Burleson as well as his nieces and nephews.
