
Patsy (Pat) Jean Cole of Mesquite died on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 89. A visitation will be held at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75149, on May 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. A committal service will take place at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 12649 Lake June Road, Balch Springs, Texas 75180, on May 1, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Pat was born on August 27, 1936, in Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of Floyd and Lucille Mitchell. She graduated from Mesquite High School in 1954 and was a member of the band. She married Richard Earl Cole on July 12, 1957, and together they enjoyed a full life, present in the lives of their children, active in their communities, traveling and entertaining, until his death on June 30, 2011.
For over 30 years, Pat worked for Lone Star Gas, serving the cities of Bonham, Honey Grove, and Garland. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and sharing her goods with family and friends. Pat enjoyed her bridge club in Bonham and was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Bonham and First Christian Church of Mesquite.
Pat was young at heart, happy, joyful, and quick-witted. She carried her petite frame in style and greeted everyone with a friendly smile.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Jean Kay Cole and partner Melissa Cohn, and by her sister, Brenda Pemberton and husband Jerry. She is also survived by her grand dog, Melela, and several nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Bryan Cole.
Pallbearers will be Scott Pemberton, Chase Pemberton, Stan Brewer, Billy Franklin, Andy Taylor, and Stan Smith. Fred Bacon will officiate.
