Abel Augusto Lopez

Abel Augusto Lopez, age 71, passed away on Wednesday June 24, 2015 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Mandeville, LA. He was born May 7th, 1944 in Santiago de Cuba to Boluciano Abel Lopez Angulo and Graciela Lopez Llorens. He came to the United States in 1961, and was a proud American citizen. He was a 1963 graduate of Louisiana State University in Electrical Engineering and worked for General Electric from then until his retirement in 1998. He was also a 1978 graduate of Tulane University with a Masters in Finance and a 1985 graduate of Loyola Law School. After sometime spent away from home, he moved back to the New Orleans area in 2004 and assisted the community as an attorney until his passing. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carolina Maria Lopez. He is survived by his son, Abel Lopez; his sister Isabel Melancon; his niece, Jennifer Russell and great- nephew, Stryker Russell. He will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his unwavering devotion to family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie on Friday, July 3, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
