In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert Maurice Aitken, Jr., and Vita Ciacciofera Aitken; maternal grandparents, Author James Montgomery, Sr., and Anita Ballajo Montgomery; her aunt, who was like a sister, Jean Davis Aitken; her cousin, Jean Marie Aitken; and her nephew, Jeremy Aitken. Leaving to cherish her precious memories are those to whom she is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Stanley Joseph Robert; her stepdaughter, Jennifer J Robert; her stepson, Louis Demar Robert; her brothers, Robert M. Aitken, III (Bridget) and Gerard Paul Aitken (Julie); nephews, Robert Alexander Aitken MD, Sean Michael Aitken, and James Gabriel Aitken; and best friend of 62 years, Susan Muller.
Ann was a graduate of Mount Carmel (1965) and, in 1969, graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught at St. Benilde and Westwego Elementary, enriching the lives of hundreds of first-graders. Additionally, she worked with the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians during the summer months. With a genuine and caring nature, she will be missed by anyone who crossed her path throughout her wonderful life. Always “Dressed to the Nines,” she enjoyed reading, shopping, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. Her most amazing and memorable attributes were her bravery, strength, and endurance. Suffering from a debilitating disease since early adulthood, Ann never refused to give in and handled all of the daily challenges she was given with grace and dignity.
