Audrey Mae Carter

Audrey "Madea" Carter expired on Monday, August 15, 2011 at University Medical Center of Las Vegas with loving family at her side. Wife of the late Joseph "Shorty" Carter, Sr. She is survived by her children, Shirley Lewis (Charles), Atlanta, Joyce Hinton, Raymond Carter (Diselle), Shelia Gilmore (John "Quincy"), Ramona Ross (Frederick), Renard Carter (Dolores), and Deborah Henry (Jerry Bates, fiance), Las Vegas and the late Brenda Elder, Carolyn Magee, and Michael Carter. Daughter-in-law Melanie Carter, niece-in-law Pearly Mae Thomas, nephew Valerie Louis Perkin, uncle Otis Morgan. Also survived by 39 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren; numerous loving cousins, relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Daughter of the late Marjorie Mae Wise and Manuel Millins. Sister of the late Betty Miller.

Relatives and friends of the family, pastors, officers and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church and City Church, employees of Southern Scrap, City of New Orleans, Children's Hospital, Ryan Restaurant, Total Community Action and Fitzgerald Hotel and Casino are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5600 Read Blvd., New Orleans with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
