

On Saturday, August 26, 2017, angels lifted Austin “Chuck” deBlois into Heaven to join his beloved mother Edna Irene McMillen deBlois, father Charles Austin deBlois, son Robert Marino, mother-in-law Norma Heurtin and sister Diane Atkins. He was born on October 28, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsyvania. He leaves behind to grieve his beloved wife of 29 years Lynne Bilbe deBlois and his children Charles Lee deBlois, Richard Donald deBlois, Diana Lou deBlois, Kathy Irene Horridge (Gregory), John William deBlois (Tonya); stepchildren Loretta Jean McElveen, John Powell Carlton, III, Jodie Carlton Mateu (Luis) and Susan Janella Carlton; his sister Ermine Helmer, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. “Chuck” served ten years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on June 30, 1967. He owned Austin’s Air Conditioning and Heating Company after working for General Heating and Air Conditioning for seventeen years. He met the love of his life at Parents without Partners and they enjoyed many years of dancing especially clogging, cajun, country and line dancing. Every fall and spring he loved going deep sea fishing in Destin, Florida and going on cruises with his family. He was a member of Marquette Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 377 and the Cosmopolitan Club where he served as president for two years. “Chuck” was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and the City of New Orleans especially Jazz Festival where he volunteered for over fifteen years. He also enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Mary Magdalen Church for fifteen years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Friday morning, September 8, 2017 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. His wishes were to be cremated and his final resting place be the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana where graveside services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
