Barbara Natal Townsend

Barbara Townsend, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Metairie, Louisiana, on April 19, 2025. Born on October 26, 1938, in New Orleans, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Myrtle and Anthony Joseph Natal Jr.

A proud graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Barbara carried her New Orleans spirit with grace and warmth throughout her life. In her younger years, she found love and adventure when she met her future husband and soulmate, Hall Townsend, through the Padua 20’s Club. Their life together was filled with shared passions, enduring companionship, and deep affection.

Barbara was a member of The CPA Wives Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, AARP, and the New Orleans A’s Model A Ford Club where she shared many good times and valued friendships.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hall Townsend, whose memory remained ever close to her heart. Barbara is survived by and was lovingly cared for by her goddaughter, Karen Mayer Dwyer, and Juan Carlos Valdatta.

Barbara’s life was one of quiet strength, a good sense of humor, heartfelt connections, and lasting memories. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy in Metairie, LA on Friday May 2, 2025 beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s Chapel.
