Benedict "Buck" Firmin Jr.

Benedict “Buck” Firmin, Jr., age 81, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 20, 2017. Beloved husband of Jacqueline “Jackie” Hirstius Firmin for 63 years. Father of Bruce B. Firmin (fianceé, Jodi Thomas), Lori F. Delatte (husband, the late Gary Delatte) and Kerri F. Tholen (husband, Carl Tholen). Grandfather of Ashleigh D. Madden (husband, Paul Madden), Bruce Firmin, Jr. (wife, Brandy Firmin), Kaitlyn Tholen and Kristen Tholen. Great grandfather of Davis J. Madden and Evelyn E. Firmin. Son of the late Benedict Firmin, Sr. and Jane Jolibois Firmin. Brother of Earl Firmin, Charlie Firmin, C.J. Firmin, Audrey F. Guillory and the late Halcomb Firmin, Oswald Firmin, Harold Firmin, Hollis Firmin and Nelson Firmin. Also survived by his lifelong friend Everett “Smitty” Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Firmin was a native of Cottonport, LA, was a former resident of Metairie, LA and was a resident of Lacombe, LA for the past 30 years. He retired from Louisiana Power and Light Company and Cleco. He was a former parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church and was a member of the SALT Council of St. Tammany Parish. Mr. Firmin was very musically talented. He played the Dobro and several other instruments and was a member of the Backroad Pickins Band. He was a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Thursday, March 23, 2017 beginning at 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Interment will be in Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Abita Springs Opry or to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
