Carlton was also the great-grandfather to Charlie D. Chelette, Katelynn R. LaBarre, and soon-to-be Ryder D. Freeman.
Carlton held a special place in his heart for his many grandchildren, and they brought him great comfort and joy in his final months. A man among men, Carlton, with his incredible work ethic and love for God and family, is an example for all to follow. Although he will be missed, his spirit lives on in everyone he touched with his gentle and kind nature. Among his many loves, one of his greatest was reserved for his wife Rhudean of over 61 years. Carlton loved her with an intensity seldom seen today.
In his final days, Carlton found solace in listening to and singing many of the old hymns of glorious praise. One of his favorites, “The Old Rugged Cross,” is one he enjoyed singing up to the end. And as the verse states, Carlton clung to that old rugged cross and has now exchanged it for a crown.
He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends, who are all invited to attend the Memorial Service from LEITZ-EAGAN Funeral Home in Metairie on Monday afternoon, November 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin in the morning at 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with the interment at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery on Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans immediately following the Memorial.
