Carmel Donovan Branigan Edwards

August 6, 1927 – August 9, 2013

Carmel’s journey through 86 years of life on earth is done, She has gone to Heaven with rejoicing singing praises to the Father and the Son.

Carmel was the beloved wife of the late William Jack Edwards and mother of the three children of the late Herbert H. Branigan – Sandra Duplantis (Gerald), Robert Branigan (Deborah) and her devoted son the late John Branigan (Phyllis). She is survived by 10 grandchildren; Nedra Duplantis Links (Bob), Shaun Duplantis Higgs (Barry), Angelle Duplantis Button (Ron), Ashleigh Duplantis Chabert, Shane Duplantis (Jacque), Tabitha Branigan Guidry (Darren), Shannon Branigan Wilkerson (Josh), Brent Branigan (Monik), Beth Branigan Hock (Brian) and Brandy Branigan Lawrence (Ben). Carmel is the great grandmother of 24 and the great-great grandmother of 1 with 2 on the way.

Carmel was born in New Orleans and resided in the City of Kenner for the past 50 years. She had a large Irish family and is survived by siblings Joyce Donovan Bird, Margie Donovan Pumilia and Charles Donovan. Carmel was predeceased by her parents, Mary “Mamie” Cole Donovan and Thomas J. Donovan, her brothers, John, Jim, Tommy and Jerry Donovan, and her sisters, Rita Schroder, Virginia Carlin and Myra Kruger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
