Carolyn Norton Combel, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on June 2, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Lorena Leone Norton and George Berle Norton, her son, Theron Daniel "Danny" Combel III, and her brother, Richard Norton. She is survived by her children, Kevin M. Combel (Joan), Christine M. Combel (Herb Griffin), Lorena Galatas, Craig M. Combel (Sally Abolrous), and Gabrielle Hudson (Will), 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, brother George B. Norton, Jr. (Kathy), daughter in-law and friend Gloria Easley, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn was born in New Orleans and went to St. Joseph School in New Orleans. She moved to Franklinton, Louisiana in 1975 and began a career with the Washington Parish School Board where she retired. She was a lifelong artist and her creativity showed in her paintings and in her cooking. She loved her family equally and unconditionally; she taught them to love the same way. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Visitation with the family will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana on June 7, 2021 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 5190 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana.
