Catherine Governale Michon

Catherine Governale Michon, aged 86, beloved wife to Joseph Michon of 66 years, passed away peacefully on the evening of June 6, 2014. A lifelong resident of the Greater New Orleans area, Catherine obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Dominican College. As a teacher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kenner and Assistant Principal at St. Benilde School, she made a lasting impression on both students and colleagues. She is survived by her family members Joseph Michon (husband), Anthony Governale (brother), Sal Michon (son), Debbie Michon (daughter-in-law), granddaughters, Lauren Michon and Stephanie Michon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Antoinette Heffron and by her parents, Salvatore Governale and Jennie Saccaro Governale. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2014 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Interment will be in St. Roch Cemetery No. 2. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA.
