

Dana passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, after battling pancreatic cancer for over two years. He was born on July 14, 1958, in New Orleans, where he enjoyed his whole life. Dana was predeceased by his companion, Laura Grannen, and by his parents, Louis McCormick Jr. and Marge McCormick. He is survived by his siblings Colin, Peggy, and Barry (Toni) McCormick and his two nephews, Ian and Connor McCormick.
Dana was a graduate of St Stanislaus High School. He was a film crew electrician with a long and productive career working on a wide variety of films, commercials, and television productions all over the country. Dana enjoyed the people and culture of New Orleans and also enjoyed the natural beauty, flora and fauna of Louisiana. He could frequently be found out exploring, particularly in the Feliciana parishes.
The family wishes to express thanks to the staff at Passages Hospice and The Carrollton, as well as to Nora Marsh and Julian Mutter, for helping to make Dana more comfortable in his last days. Dana will be interred in the family tomb at Metairie Cemetery in a private ceremony.
A celebration of Dana’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Friends of the Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge (a 501(c)3 nonprofit) near St. Francisville at: Friends of Cat Island, P O Box 739, St Francisville LA 70775.
