Darlene Nesanovich Bye entered her heavenly home on February 27, 2021. She was 83 years old. Beloved wife of Joseph “Johnny” Bye for 62 years. Devoted mother of Sheri Burchard (Tommy); Randy Bye (Paulette); Staci Sanzone (Randy). Loving grandmother of Robert Deville, Joshua Bye (Stephanie), Christopher Burchard, Emily Burchard, Jenna Ollie and the late Lauren Elizabeth Ollie. Great grandmother to Mason Bye, Travis Deville, Callie Bye, and Aizen Reid.
She was the 3rd of 4 children. Daughter of the late Angela Piazza Nesanovich Hayes and Matthew Gabriel Nesanovich. Sister of the late Geraldine Nesanovich, and Anthony Joseph Nesanovich (Marion). Daughter in law of the late Joseph Leonce Bye (Lou Belle) and Elda Tregre Breaux (Clannis ); sister in law Doris Clay (Bill) , Helen Gravois, Elda Lapeyrouse (Jack), Molly Kippers.
Survived by her sister, Susan Dorner (Michael), sister in law Joelle Bivens (Clyde) brother in law Joe Bye (Dhona Fe), brother in law Elic Gravois and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Darlene was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Harahan for 56 years. She was a graduate in the class of 1955 at John McDonogh Senior High School. She was a faith filled parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church. She was the most kind, thoughtful and compassionate individual and never met a stranger. Everyone who knew her loved her. Her husband and her family were her whole world and she was always involved in their activities. Darlene was a member of the St. Rita Mother’s Club, Lions Club, and Riverside Country Club. She enjoyed keeping in touch with lifelong friends from high school at their monthly luncheon gatherings. She also loved playing volleyball and tennis, pitching horseshoes and participating in the Senior Olympics. Darlene volunteered at St. Rita School, coached her daughters indoor ball teams and cheerleading squads. She was also a passionate Saints and LSU fan, avid reader and loved to cross stitch. She was always ready to travel with her husband, children and grandchildren, visiting the beach, casinos and camping destinations as often as possible.
Family and close friends are invited to attend visitation at St. Rita Catholic Church in Harahan on March 8, 2021 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00pm. A private burial will follow at St. Louis No.3 Cemetery in New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, masses at St. Rita or donations to the American Heart Association in her memory are appreciated.
