What a wonderful gentleman.  He has cut my hair for over 25 years. Conversation was always great and he respected everyone. Rest in peace Dave. You deserve a place in heaven.

I enjoyed hearing all the awesome things said about Dave today. I know he so friendly and compassionate and always glad to see you. Joann I am so sorry.

I’ve been very upset since hearing of Dave’s passing. More than I could have imagined. I’ll be able to find someone to cut my hair, but I won’t ever find another Dave. For too many years to count I’ve been getting my haircuts from Dave, but the haircuts were just incidental. The real benefit to me was the time I got to spend with Dave, the stories we swapped and the laughs we shared.  

My visits with Dave were a special event to me and I always tried to have something prepared to kick things off.  One time I shared a joke with him and he laughed, so hard.  Six to eight weeks later I was in again and he said “Bernie, I’ve got a good one for ya”. He started into the telling and I soon saw where he was headed, so I said; “Uh, Dave! I told you that one!”.  That resulted in another good laugh. I’m sure if he was telling it back to me, that he must have told it to many others as well. 
 
At the Celebration of Life for Dave today (6/1/2025) I shared that joke with the many who attended in honor and remembrance of Dave and I was asked to include it here.

Two blonds were sitting out one night in Oklahoma, just looking at the moon and the stars when one said to the other; “Which do you think is closer, the moon, or Florida?”, to which the other blond replied; “duh! Do you see Florida from here?”

Listen carefully; I’m sure I hear Dave laughing at this one all over again!

Dave was and always will be very special to me. I actually had him on my list of people to inform should my time arrive. I couldn’t have him wondering why I never came in again.  He was a friend.

My sincere condolences to Joanne, Dave's family, his colleagues, his friends and his many clients who will miss him as much as I.

I met David after coming in to Supercuts to have a particularly bad haircut from another place fixed. Of course David fixed the cut, but we had such a great conversation I knew I had to come back, and did for many years. David always remembered the details of my life and family, and after every haircut I also left with a good joke or words of wisdom. Over the years he shared many stories from his life as well.  Reading through these postings it is evident David positively touched the lives of many many people. My sincere condolences to his family. May he rest in peace. -James Shurte

I will always be thankful for Dave cutting my hair every Saturday morning for years. He was always pleasant and a great guy and professional. I had to change barbers after Hurricane Katrina and he took care of me for years and did an awesome job. I am sorry for your loss Joanne and I will never forget the talks I had with Dave.

For the last 20 twenty years I have had myself and our triplets in to Supercuts for haircuts. As you can imagine, kids that  are not the easiest cuts. He always handled them with kindness and patience. Through grammar school, high school and their acceptance in LSU- his excitement was palpable with real joy. There are many haircutters or stylists in the city- I truly believe none matched his passion for his job nor his compassion for all who sat in his seat. Prayers go out to his family and friends. Not many of us find our calling in life- he definitely found his🙏

I get my haircut at Super Cuts by the last time he did my cut. It was one of the best cuts I had in a long time. I was planning on returning to him again. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I pray comfort and peace to his family and coworkers.

I am so sorry to hear about Dave. I realized that I hadn’t seen him at Supercuts for awhile and then got a text about his passing. Joann, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I know there are no words to ease and comfort you but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sad to learn of the great loss of a really beautiful person. Dave was always upbeat and   connected so easily with people. When you were with Dave,  there was a comforting feeling of understanding in both his  listening to and his telling of stories.   Though I was only one his clients, he made me feel like a brother, and a friend and I am blessed to have known him.  He will be greatly missed but, God called him home  to hold him in His arms and his love and his memory will live on in those that knew and loved him.

Hey was a good man and over the many years I saw him I don’t think I ever saw him in a bad mood. I was very sorry to hear of his passing and my sincere condolences to his loved ones. He will be missed and may he now rest in eternal peace.

Dave will be greatly missed. My family and I have been going there for almost twenty years. I was choked up a couple of months ago when Joann told me of his diagnosis. He was such a good man. May he rest in peace and may the community comfort Joann

Dave cut my hair from when I was 16 to about 22. He could talk about anything. One time I went in there and Journey was playing in the background. I told him I liked the band, to which he said, “Oh yeah there were some great bands back then weren’t they?” I didn’t know them to the extent that he did. I’m only 24. I just loved the music. 
We had a great time talking about Billy Joel, Eagles, and any Rock band of the 70s and 80s. In fact, I was just talking to my brother yesterday about him. “Don’t worry buddy,” he used to say. Going to miss you Dave. Rest in Peace.

Dave and i were high School buddies...We hung out together, We both went our ways and i ran into him around 14 years later at the Esplanade mall.. I was working for SuperCuts and he was working at a jewelry store. I sort of talked him in to coming to work for us..and the rest is History.. We did have some good times and Dave made the job fun.. He was always Happy and smiling and customers loved him... i am going to miss you my Brother, i wll see you on the other side.. love you...

Dave's been cutting my hair for close to 20 years....so sad to hear of his passing.  He was always upbeat, and fun to see whenever I went in for a haircut.  We discussed the latest books we'd been reading...condolences to Joann and his family.

Dave was a great guy. I got my first haircut from him 20 years ago and went to him every 2 weeks since. I looked forward to hearing his stories and jokes  every time I went to go see him. Great personality and sense of humor. If I was in a bad mood that day he would have me leaving with a smile on my face .  I will definitely miss his friendship.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. As my brother Billy and I were recounting when we heard the news, David was a great guy and just the nicest man to have spent time with the last 25 years. I am so sad to here this . My husband and I met Dave and Joann when we lived in metairie. My husband went to supercuts to get a haircut.  Joann cut his hair and he talked me into going there. I hadn't good luck with 8tger supeLove and prayers Tina Camacho rcuts.  I went and let Joann cut my hair,I was so happy with it. For about 12 years Dave and Joann became our hairstylist until we moved away. Dave was always so nice he was sweetheart.  I'm sending love and prayers to Joann and the rest  of Dave's family.
